Stopped on my way out and again on my way back from Burntcoat one evening last month (October). Excellent burger, made with care. Fresh, beautiful salad. Kind, friendly service.

Cute, very friendly place. We had lunch there. Food was simple and not too expensive. We had fried pickles, a chicken salad wrap, and fish and chips - all were totally fine, especially the fried pickles. I would go back there for a quick bite to eat.

This little cafe is part of a historic country general store and is decorated with lots of interesting artifacts. When we arrived it was a busy day so they were out of burgers, but we had the fish & chips and they were very good. They do not have a liquor licence but have lots of other options. There is an ice cream stand right next door.

We were planning on going on a tidal bore rafting adventure (it is a must-do when in NS!) at 1:00 pm last Saturday, with Shubie River Wranglers. We were hoping to find a brunch spot to grab a quick bite, and Google Maps sent us to Frieze and Roy General. All the other restaurants were 30 minutes to an hour away. Frieze and Roy is the oldest general store in Canada (185 years and counting!), and Mud Slide Cafe is inside the store. We met Troy Robertson, the owner, and due to labour shortages (why am I not surprised?), they are no longer open for brunch, but plan to be open at noon that day. We arrived around 10:30 am and were very hungry. Despite being short-staffed and having only one guy working the kitchen, he asked if we were okay with having fish and chips, as this was something they could easily cook in the fryer. The cafe is not yet open, but they were willing to serve us whatever they could offer! Troy said it would not be good to go rafting on an empty stomach. Can you imagine being "hangry" on a raging muddy river? My friend and I shared a 2-piece fish and chips order, which fueled us for our tidal bore rafting adventure. Thank you to the kind people of Mudslide Cafe/Frieze and Roy for showing us what unreasonable hospitality was all about.

Very friendly, quirky fun atmosphere, and with a straightforward and good fish and chips / diner-style menu. The cook was super friendly and accomodating to kids. Very reasonably priced. Situated on the banks of the bay of Fundy, next to some beautiful mud inlets - great place to have an ice cream, and wander around or explore.

Come and get it! A good blend of more familiar dishes from a Canadian perspective and a nice occasional addition of something unique. The Mud Slode Cafe is an extension of the general store and has been an excellent addition to help locals and tourists alike have a place to sit down to eat or get take out.
